About

About Persephone Myers

Hello and welcome to my world. I am Perse and I am a sophomore at UNC Chapel Hill. I am an intended information science and marketing major. All of my life I was told to make something of myself I would have to be a doctor or a lawyer. That was exactly what a set out to do when I arrived at this school, but I was quickly hit with depressive episodes, lacking of motivation and a complete hopelessness about my future. I hated what I was doing and I felt as if it were too late to change my mind.

There was a point in time when I felt like completely giving up until I realized that I was the only thing that could make me happy. I knew that I would regret not truly putting in all of my effort into the things I love which brought me to the school of journalism. All my life I loved to read and write and for the first time, I started enjoying my classes. Marketing mixes me passion for web design and coding with my love for writing and communicating with other people. Journalism also combines my passion for politics and communicating the voice of the unheard. If I ever decided to become a journalists, I would love to go Latin American and write about the injustices the governments have carried out against minority groups.
